Hi res | Lo res | The BIKE GODS venture into new territory this week, tackling the largest county in the US! It's a new place, so naturally there is some new equipment to go along with the first ride in a month. |

Remember all the problems poor old Sprocket Rocket was having last time? Well, unfortunately the old guy just wasn't up to the 2001 BIKE GOD challenge of 584 rides in one year. As you can tell by our schedule of past events, the search for a replacement has caused us to get a bit off our track. Never fear, though! Despite a loss of 48 days, we need merely adjust our ride frequency to every 13 hours in order to attain our lofty goal. IT WILL HAPPEN! Here we see Zippy preparing his brand new, as yet unnamed steed for its inaugural BIKE GOD ride. Over the past month, the shiny new bike has been through the BIKE GODS' own brand of boot camp, passing with flying colors and beating out nearly 5,000 other hand-picked candidates. Becoming a BIKE GOD Bike is an honor bestowed on fewer than one in every 17 million high quality mountain bikes. We're proud to welcome him aboard the team! Wondering about the fate of poor Sprocket? Don't fret: he has joined the ranks of the many proud BIKE GOD Bike Veterans, spending his days in bike paradise with his fellow BGB retirees. | Hi res | Lo res Hi res | Lo res

Hi res | Lo res | Zippy gives his new ride his first workout of an anticipated long and fruitful tenure as a BIKE GOD Bike. No problems here! |
Byondo and Chainey quickly follow suit, making the steep mountain look like a mere bump in the trail. | Hi res | Lo res | Hi res | Lo res |

Hi res | Lo res | It feels good to be back on the trail again. The new BGB is performing splendidly. |
Here, Zippy takes his new ride down its first wild, exhilarating downhill. As usual, they make the seemingly impossible look easy. We can already tell the two will make a great team. | Hi res | Lo res |
Byondo enjoys the quick downhill so much, he decides to come back up and do it again! As you can see, Zippy and friend are waiting impatiently way down at the bottom... | Hi res | Lo res | Hi res | Lo res | Hi res | Lo res |

Hi res | Lo res | Here, the BIKE GODS stop to enjoy the beautiful panoramic splendor of the Yucaipan Outback. Nestled in the hills and unreachable except via a series of impossible trails, it is a place practically untainted by humans. |
Byondo takes the lead today, charging up the hill as if it doesn't even exist! He's feeling good and looking even better out on the trail. | Hi res | Lo res |
Hi res | Lo res | Taking advantage of a rare opportunity left by the absence of TsaiBorg, Byondo is the one who gets to wait for the rest of us slow pokes at the top of the hill. |
Zippy and bike come charging along soon after as Byondo clumsily stumbles into the picture. Oh well, can't win them all... | Hi res | Lo res |
Hi res | Lo res | Proof, once again that humans are no match for a BIKE GOD: this human, riding his wimpy little motor bike and doing no work himself, comes speeding by in a pathetic attempt to "ride with the GODS." Unfortunately for him, his sad little stunt evokes nothing but hearty laughter from the BIKE GODS: it's painfully clear that he would never have made it so far on his own power. |
After the good laugh, it's time to start heading back... | Hi res | Lo res |
Hi res | Lo res | As usual, Zippy is the first back down the steep hill, waiting for the others. What's not so usual is the amazing time he and the new bike have made careening down the treacherous slope. These are exciting times to be a BIKE GOD fan and follow the progress of Zippy MacPhee and the new bike! |
